ANDERSON “MR. IMPACT” WARD was born and raised in Silver Sands, Christ Church, Barbados. At the age of five he discovered the love and passion for music, when he joined his father for steel drum sessions. In 1983 he started playing steel pan with the B.T.A Harbour Band and in 1984 he joined the Cockspur Five Star Steel Orchestra performing on the hotel circuit along with cruise ships and overseas tours to Miami, Brazil, and Sweden.
In 1991 he started his own band "Sudden Impact" that developed over the past 18 years from a two-man band (pans/vocals/bass) to a versatile entertainment band. With Sudden Impact he kept playing steel pan, but also proved his talent as a singer, acoustic drummer, percussionist and harmonica. Anderson has produced a two CD’s “We Ain’t Going Home” in 2000 and “Mr. Impact” in 2003. He has been nominated four times for the Barbados Tourism Authority “Band of the Year” Award (‘95, ‘96, ‘97, and ‘03) and in 2006 he obtained the Barbados Tourism Award for Excellent Entertainment. Anderson competes in the Crop Over Festival, making it to Pic-o-de-Crop Finals on numerous occasions. His band Sudden Impact, showcasing Anderson primarily on Steel pan, has been performing a variety of music from Pop and Soca to Reggae Music at the Waterfront Café for the past seventeen years.
Ebe Gilkes Jazz Trio - 7:30pm, to 10:30pm

Trinidadian-born Ebe Gilkes moved to Barbados in 1957 and performed with the Billy Green Quartet, intending to go to the UK, but never got there. Instead, he stayed, got married and studied, all the while, honing his skill on the piano. He credits Ralph Davies for inspiring and giving him encouragement. Ralph also remembers him sitting on his bike outside listening to him play, Davies admits "Ebe attempted things on the piano I never ventured into." Oscar Peterson was also impressed with Ebe, sending him an electric piano and inviting him to visit him in Canada, they became good friends.
VSOP Dixieland - Big Band - 8:00 to 11:00pm

The local 7 piece VSOP Dixieland Jazz Band was formed in the early ’70s. Members, who are all business professionals in their own right, are: Art Taylor on Piano; Tony Cummins, clarinet; Cecil Bascombe, bass; Andy Voss, trumpet; Ronnie Crebbin, banjo; John Duckhouse, trombone and Robert Foster, drums.
The VSOP Dixieland Jazz Band has been playing for 25 years at The Waterfront Café, and for 29 years in all. They are an informal and fun act, with a combination of jazz standards and memorable hits. Included in their repertoire were such well-known classics as Delia Gone, Mac The Knife, My Bucket’s Got A Hole In It, Tiger Rag, I’m Confessing That I Love You and Stranger On The Shore.
Panta Brown - Friday Night Latin and Caribbean Jazz Sounds - 8:00 to 11:00pm
As a highly respected Musician /Songwriter/Vocalist/Arranger/Producer/Bassists/Piano Player with his Kookjazz Band, Panta Brown is widely recognised as one of the most talented West Indian artists of all time. Panta’s work includes performances in New York City, Madison Square Garden with the great Blue Rhythm Combo, Jazz Clubs, in Harlem with people like Dani Mixer, Pharo Sanders and Earl Corning. His work also includes producing and arranging for calypsonians in Brooklyn.
He studied at Kings Borough Community College and Lehman College in the Bronx where he pursued his B.S. Degree in Music. He has travelled and played on cruise ships to Alcopoca, Panama, Puerto Rico, Brazil etc.
He lived and played in Canada for three and a half (3 ½) years and has played in Toronto, Quebec and Montreal. Panta Brown has performed at Jazz Festivals in Barbados and St. Lucia. He has played in Mustique for the great rock and roll legend Mic Jagger, Tommy Hilfiger, Queen Elizabeth’s sisters and many others.
Paul Thorne Jazz Trio - 8:00 to 11:00pm
Paul A. Thorne is a multi-talented entertainer with two CD’s to his credit. He has been performing on the hotel circuit for nearly twenty years. Within the last ten years, he put together his own band (Ultimate Groove) which has gained the reputation of being the most versatile group on the island.
Over the past 20 years, Paul A. Thorne has performed at many of the island’s major events, including the Barbados Jazz Festival,
Crop Over Pic-O-De-Crop Finals, Caribbean Song Festivals and much much more. He is also a very competent, well rounded musician with the ability to read, compose and arrange music at most levels.
In 2003 he and his wife Andrea had the opportunity to take a cruise on the ‘Carnival Destiny’ and ‘The Adventure of the Seas’. On both of these ships, he played with several of the groups on board and was a ‘hit’ with both the musicians and guests.
Paul A. Thorne, as the feature performer in the Band Ultimate Groove, has performed at nearly every hotel in Barbados, from Sam Lord’s Castle in the east, to Almond Beach in the north. In every situation and for every event Paul A. Thorne has been able to deliver excellent performances and is highly thought of in many areas of entertainment in Barbados.
