BARBADOS RUM TOUR - NEAR WATERFRONT Café

Rum has been produced in Barbados for over 350 years and Barbados rum is recognised as one of the finest in the world today.

The Mount Gay Rum Distillery visitor's centre on Spring Garden Highway is a short taxi ride through Bridgetown from the Waterfront Café. Built like a typically Bajan house, the visitors centre is in front of the rum warehouse and bottling facility.


About Rum
Rum is a distilled beverage made from sugarcane by-products such as molasses and sugarcane juice by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak and other barrels.
The first distillation of rum took place on the sugarcane plantations of the Caribbean in the 17th century.
